From 2010 to 2014, the total number of grants issued to nonprofits in the United States grew from 159,435 to 307,383, a 92.8% increase. The total dollar amount of these grants grew from $29B to $42B, a 47.8% increase.
The total number of grants issued by funders nearly doubled over a 5 year period, but the total cash granted only experienced a 47.8% increase. The cash issued per grant decreased over the same time period. Meaning there were more grants issued, but less dollars per grant.
